Understanding chandeliers

One can only imagine the elegant beauty of a wrought iron chandelier hanging from the ceiling of a modern/Gothic themed interior, as chandeliers have been and will be one of the most elegant additions to a person’s home. In the old times, they were available only to the richest of society’s classes. But in recent times, the modern lightning fixture scene has offered thousands of chandeliers possibilities, all in different styles, sizes, various choices of glass/crystal/metal and so on. From the bubble chandelier to the simplest “candles on a wooden cross” type of bubble chandelier, these lighting fixtures will keep on lighting our homes for many decades to come.

As the chandelier is a fixed piece of interior decoration, great care must be taken in their looks and positioning, so that it suits the room it’s supposed to light up. Thus, choosing one in the right style and size to fit the room is tantamount. One cheap-and-cheerful way out of this is picking one of the easiest to fit modern versions of the chandelier, namely the bubble chandelier. It’s cheap, easy to maintain and even easier to DIY. And in Spartan, modern home arrangement, bubble chandeliers are just the right ticket to an even and elegant distribution of light into the room.

The current chandelier offering is so vast, that you can get easily get lost. When in the process of choosing some modern lighting fixtures, one must first of all, ask himself: “What style is my home decorated in?” “Will an intricate and old fashioned Venetian crystal chandelier suit the mood or will the simpler, but yet as effective bubble chandelier do the trick?” After you’ve answered this question, you must also take into account where would you like to position the chandelier or chandeliers. If you want to have more than one chandelier, another common place to hang one is the foyer, for example. But in the modern lighting fixture world, one can also place a chandelier anywhere else: a couple of mini-crystal chandeliers at your bedside, or maybe even small bubble chandeliers in the bathroom. The sky’s (or should it be the ceiling?) the limit in our times.

Even though less used in modern lighting, crystal chandeliers are still a fixture in our times. Not befitting any home, they can add a great, aristocratic touch to a home with the right interior design theme. But not all crystal chandeliers are made the same. From the low-range Bohemian crystal chandeliers to the top of the line Swarowski crystal chandeliers, one can get to choose any chandelier to suit its budget. You can also find crystal-imitation chandeliers made of various polymers, but these are not really one should look into when looking for a centerpiece for his or her dining room, in my opinion.

Even though a chandelier’s primary purpose should be illuminated, you can also view it as a home decoration statement or a mood setter. As such, some people decided to take the aesthetic considerations over the actual light provided. So, it’s sometimes best to supplement the lighting needs of the room with Tabletop lamps, floor lamps or targeted lighting spots to enhance the atmosphere. After all, that’s what bubble chandeliers are for: mood and atmosphere in a homely setting.
